Aubrey Williams was a Guyanese artist who travelled and worked throughout the world and notably in London where he died in 1990 aged 63. He was best known for his large, oil-on-canvas paintings, which combine elements of abstract expressionism with forms, images and symbols inspired by the pre-Columbian art of indigenous peoples of the Americas.

His work repeatedly connected with his concern of popular conscience and the challenging issues of change such as revolution, uprising and cataclysm. it's hard not to wonder how he would view his prophetic work in the context of global change today. an artist of international renown, his work is exhibited in the world's most prestigious galleries including the Tate and Hayward in London.
